Last week, I showed photos of the first floor of our guest house and the first piece of furniture we have added. I wanted to share the upstairs with you!
We are still waiting on carpeting to be installed. Supposed to be any day now. We've been hearing that for months and now we have found another carpet installer... so hopefully it really will be any day now.
(Captions are below each photo.)

This is the front door as one would enter into the guest house. To the left is the door to the garage.
Directly ahead of the front door are the stairs going up. The handrail is hickory to match the kitchen cupboards and LED lighting is installed on the left wall to give some light at night. (The small half door you see at the top of the stairs is the attic storage. Interesting note on that door -- our contractor took a full sized door and cut it in half and then framed it in. Behind that is a wonderfully large storage area!)
The upstairs landing. The half door to the storage is on the left wall and this is looking into the rooom that is situated above the garage. It's going to be tricky to get furniture into this room when the time comes! We may have to go to IKEA and build it in the room itself!
The room as it looks now. This is a huge room! And a bonus -- this was originally supposed to be a non-usable space but our contractor changed some things around on the blueprints and voila! We have a wonderful bonus room. This room looks towards the lake.
Looking towards the right -- closet door on that wall.
Looking towards the left.
Standing against far right wall and looking back towards the door. Half door to storage space can be seen through the open door.
View from inside the room looking towards the frozen lake. Our house directly in the front.
A wider shot of the same view.
Walking out of the bonus room and straight ahead is the bathroom. To the left is the door to the bedroom. Door in the middle is the linen closet. Stairs are in lower left corner.
Bedroom. We have installed a ceiling fan and the padding for the carpeting hangs out here. This room has loads of light with windows on two sides.
Closet door on left hand side.
Inside the closet.
Standing in room looking back towards the door.
Same view from another angle showing the large window.
View from the window closest to the closet.
View from the larger window.
Looking back out towards upstairs landing from bedroom. Good shot of the cute half door to storage area.
Small bathroom with a tub/shower (very deep!), sink and vanity and toilet.
More of the bathroom.
Linen closet located between the bathroom and the bedroom.
And there is the second floor of the guest house! We are excited to have the carpeting installed and get started on furnishing the upstairs.
Thanks for visiting my blog!

Oh Carolyn, I am just drooling. I can't WAIT to see more pictures as you progress on this darling little guest house!
In fact - - - it doesn't look so LITTLE to me. I believe it is bigger than the duplex in which we LIVE!!
Carol; I'm a big fan of the colors you chose for the walls. I especially love the different colors on the walls downstairs.
Maybe you should come to my house and help me move furniture and pick something different for my walls...? :)
Good luck with the carpet!
glad to see my summer house is coming along ;)
I loved seeing all of the pictures. It's going to be such a fun house! And having that lake RIGHT there? Wow!! I'm excited to see more pictures when the carpet is in.
Nice work!

Thank you ALL for the comments! It's really exciting when I see them! I will definitely be posting more photos as the carpeting is installed and as we continue to add to the house.
Keetha: The guest house was originally supposed to be about 800 sq ft but with the additional "bonus" room it's about 1100 now.
Nancy: I'm free anytime to come and help you out with anything! I wanted to help you paint your kitchen! You have the most creative ideas though -- not me. So I'll be the helper. :)
I think the rooms turned out great!
it is coming together so nicely.. I can't wait to see it with the carpet, etc... :) I am sure you are so ready for the lake to unfreeze so that you can enjoy those views - awesome!
