Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus

God has blessed me with a wonderful life!
I am a Christian, a wife and a mom. My name is Carolyn and I live in Northwest Iowa. I've been blogging for awhile but and still learning the ropes day by day! I work full time as a website designer and enjoy spending my free time at home. Reading is a passion of mine along with a few hobbies like cooking, gardening, making cold process soap -- and now blogging.
Although we've been living in Iowa the past 20 years, I am not originally from here. My father was a KC-135 pilot in the Air Force and I spent my childhood moving. A LOT. When Dad retired, my family moved to Texas. I joined them in San Antonio a couple years later, after college. Shortly after I moved to Texas, I met my wonderful hubby! We have been married for 25 years and have a 20-year-old daughter in college.

The adorable little puppy in my photo is our Havanese. Her name is Holly and you can read about her here.
We live on a lake which is how I came up with the name for my blog: Adrift on the Lake. It's my favorite thing to do on the boat... drive it to the middle of the water on a beautiful, sunny day, shut off the motor and just drift on the lake....
Discovering blogs and blogging
I discovered how much I enjoy reading blogs around 2005. My mother had been diagnosed with a cancer called Multiple Myeloma (MM) and in my quest to find out more about it, I began looking it up on the internet. Of course, I found the many medical websites about it -- but usually couldn't make any sense out of what I was reading except for the very basic stuff. While searching for more info one day, I came across a blog of a man who had MM and was blogging about his experience with it. Well, let me tell you -- finding his blog was a lifesaver for me! I learned so much about what my mother was dealing with. He linked to other multiple myeloma blogs and I read every single one of them -- over and over again. My mother passed away in 2009 and I stopped reading those blogs except to check back in occasionally to see how the person is doing.
So... I gave it a try! And I quit...
I began my own blog in 2007 and I did try to maintain it... for a few weeks. I had fun trying to figure out what I was doing, but I didn't have a clue. The only person who read it was my mom -- and she thought I was the most interesting and talented person in the universe anyway. I didn't have the slightest idea how to share it with others. I called that blog "Blogging About Nada" and finally decided that a blog by that name didn't need any posts.
Now I'm back!
Although I did give up on my first blog, I continued to read many of them. I've been inspired by so many blogs the past few months and am looking forward to joining in with some of the fun posts and link parties!
Thanks for visiting my blog!!
